Got too many unfinished posts that I never got around to publishing. Yikes!
Near as I can tell, I’ve got at least 200 posts sitting in Drafts. Some wrenching stuff, some garagelopnik stuff, some DOTS material, JRitS compilations, reviews, questions, essays, opinion pieces, and miscellaneous tweets, memes, music videos, dashcam vids, etc. found across the internet that I wanted to make sure got shared here.
But taking into account the huge amount of content already generated on Oppo (nearly 4 times as much as what you might see on Jalopnik), I don’t want to clutter it up. Kinja sorts the front page of its blogs by most recent, and I don’t want a flood of my posts to push everybody else’s stuff off of the main page. So I’m limiting myself to no more than one post per day.
Fortunately, some of the things I wanted to post have already been shared by some of you, so that lightens the load a little.
Unfortunately, some of the things I wanted to share have since been deleted or removed from their sources. Maybe I can find some alternate uploads or screenshots for you (if I can figure out what they even were).
I guess I could just post a lot of it to my personal blog, but that would mean I’d have ungrey a bunch of comments. I’d much rather post here, where most of you are already “approved”.
If I can’t clear out all of my drafts, that’s okay. I just want to whittle it down to something manageable. Those of you who have checked out the “Manage: Oppositelock” pages (which now has separate “Scheduled” and “Drafts” sections) might recognize some of your own stuff. I hope you’ll join me in cleaning it up.

If you think it’s good enough, but not quite ready for America’s time zones, schedule for 1-4AM and screw up pip bip’s hour rules. Times like 1:23 2:34 3:45 5:43 crap like that.
I’m sure there are a few of us that check it it the morning. But I’m guilty of not reading longer posts.

I almost always schedule my posts, which is why almost every one ends up with a “xx:00” publish time. Sometimes I schedule it for when I have time to participate in the discussion, but sometimes I just want to start a conversat ion and let the comments accumulate on their own. Because as soon as I reply, everything else gets hidden behind what Kinja considers “Staff” comments and I don’t always want my replies to steamroll everybody else’s.
Sure, sometimes there are important corrections or clarifications that are good to “pin” to the top of the comment section, but it would be nice if Kinja had more options for authors to select the default sorting method. Most of the time, I just want to be a regular commenter participating in the discussion without hogging the spotlight to myself. So yeah, maybe scheduling a post for while I’m asleep might not be such a bad idea.

When I schedule posts I always do them for some non-XX:00 time just because I assume that most people will default to that.

I dont like the comment aspect either, the only way around it is to star every comment once you participate in conversation.

I just checked my own drafts, 3 were from ‘14 and 1 from ‘15
Only the oldest was worth saving. I’ll need to do a write up of my WEC Austin trip. Being only on an iPhone limits writing abilities.

Yeah, but that takes occasional checking of the post itself, since authors don ’t receive notifications for replies made between other commenters. And Kinja’s still got some bugs to work out when it comes to displaying more than 5 comments in a particular comment thread.

Confession: i’ve been lurking/posting here for a while and I still don’t know what hour rule means. Is it just “don’t post more than o nce an hour”?

I’ve heard a lot about this mystical “drafts folder,” but I have no idea how to get there. Pretty sure I’ve lost at least one post in progress because of this.

If you’ve ever “saved” a draft without publishing, you will have something in that “folder”. Click on the “Manage” link on your user drop-down menu, and depending on what blog you’re on, it will come up as “Manage your drafts” or “Manage Oppositelock”. From there you can access already-published posts, ones scheduled for future posting, and drafts not yet set to post.

THe idea is that if it’s been over an hour and no one has posted (time stamp shows the time and not 1-59minutes ago) it is your duty to put up something, can just be a photo of a car, but it’ll sometimes stoke a conversation.
It’s just a silly little way to keep content flowing.
